WFH: Making Your Home Work For You

Your Wine Country home is your sanctuary, your gathering place, your contentment -- and now it’s probably your workspace, too. Whether working from home is something you’ve long done, or is a new concept you’re suddenly learning to embrace, here are a few of our favorite tips for maximizing your comfort, your productivity and your sanity.

1) Create a Daily Routine

• Set an alarm. Though it can be oh-so tempting to laze the day away, it’s not good for your mental health. Instead, give yourself permission to lie quietly in bed for a few minutes. Be calm. Be mindful. Visualize five positive intentions -- and then start your day!

• Make your BED. Truly. And here’s why.

• Get dressed. It’s a mood booster -- and your #FRHomeVibes casual wear is fine! We love comfies like this lounge set and this modern hoodie. Save your PJs as a reward at day’s end.

• Keep a schedule to stay sane, but be kind to yourself if you suddenly feel like napping on the couch with a bag of Cheetos (because who doesn’t now and then -- even in the best of times?)

• Take breaks. Set a timer for mini escapes away from screens, away from your desk. Walk around the house. Put on some Pink Martini and dance in your socks. Step outside to breathe the fresh air. Listen for birds.

• Set a definitive end time to your work day. Celebrate with your favorite evening rituals to mentally separate. Enjoy dinner al fresco for a rejuvenating change of perspective.

2) Keep Clean and Carry On!

• Utterly declutter your workspace. Get rid of anything not serving your needs.

• We love baskets! They’re the perfect catch-all for files, mail and supplies, while a beautiful bowl or box holds pencils, pens, gum, a phone charger. Tote baskets keep notebooks and a cozy blanket within reach.

• Always (always) have some #FRHomeVibes candles burning, and use a spritz of this bottled magic to keep your sanctuary clean and inviting.

3) Bring the Outdoors In!

Thankfully we can still get flowers and greenery at our local markets. Pull out all those vases hiding in your cabinets (or grab a new one) and fill ‘em up! *Bonus pro tip: Create an entire arrangement of green fillers. Your wallet will thank you and you’ll get that Wine Country vibe to boot!

Isabel Allende wrote, “We all have an unsuspected reserve of strength inside that emerges when life puts us to the test.” So, yes, friends. We’ve got this.
