Sneak Peek! Sonoma Mediterranean Mod
We’ve been working on a remodel stunner in Sonoma, and had to share some sneak peeks! Our super stylish and design-savvy clients — half of which is an avid home chef — purchased this home sight unseen while living abroad in New Zealand. But perhaps because the property is surrounded by grapevines, an orchard, and a manicured vegetable garden, the decision was an easy one!
Most properties in this area house one-story structures, but the unique architecture of this home boasts second-story bedrooms with 360-degree views from every window. It was important to us all to retain the natural light and major architectural features throughout the house, so a major upgrade of everything else in between was called for.
With the design done, custom cabinetry in the works, and construction underway, we wanted to share some of our “in progress” images including just-in renderings of the primary bathroom (that we are obsessed with!), our materials mood board, and a snapshot from the lookbook we had presented to the client. It’s all coming together nicely, what do you think?
THE OLD
Rather than adding on to the house, we decided to keep the existing footprint and instead invest in a full upgrade of materials, appliances, cabinetry, throughout with new light fixtures, custom plaster fireplaces, and a new soaking tub. We took architectural elements from around the house (especially those arches!) to incorporate into our new design, and retained as best we could the light that already flooded through.
THE NEW
Natural light and natural elements rule the day in our new design for this space, refined with accents of sharp, modern, black accents.
While this project becomes a gorgeous reality, we are hearing rumors that the construction and landscape crews are often greeted with the most incredible homemade muffins and treats on the daily. Perhaps, we will be stopping by for “site visits” more often!
